What Will Christmas Really Cost You?
As we draw closer and closer to Christmas again I have been making some observations about Christmas and the true effects it has on the mass of the population.
If you have been anywhere near the shops in the last week or so you would be aware of the mad rush of shoppers that are out buying last minute gifts and buying more ‘stuff’ that people could really do without. Don’t get me wrong. I believe in the act of giving, but when you consider how some people can really go overboard with gifts and often competing on who can give the best gifts.
LOL.
and for what?
So you start the new year with a new amount of debt. The cycle begins again for another year.
Bad Habits
Let’s take a look at some common habits.
* You buy way more food than you need to by overstocking the cupboards with junk food and rubbish.
* You spend money on trinkets such as decorations and lights for your tree
* You relax any disciplines you have on your spending limitations and just go for it!
* You stuff as much as much food as humanly possible into your stomach on Christmas day
* If you are self employed you tend to allow yourself to take it easy over the break and forget about why you were building a business in the first place.
So, when you take a look at the true cost of Christmas you can easily see that what will happen. You will get to the New Year and set your New Years Resolutions again because now you are more in debt, overweight and feeling frustrated that you are no better off than you were last year this time.
Create New Habits
Here are some disciplines you could take upon yourself so you won’t end up in the same place as last year.
* Don’t overstock your cupboards with ridiculous amount of junk food. Have just a small amount and eat the food that is already in your fridge and cupboard
* You don’t really need any more dangly, flashy things for your tree do you?
* Have small servings of food on Christmas day.. it still tastes the same ![]()
* Budget what you spend on gifts. Your kids and family don’t really need every single new gadget so they can be cool with their friends.
* Give a small gift to someone in need, this can really be a way to effect one persons life that has some meaning.
* If you have your own business, remain focused and disciplined. Unless you already have the income you need, then it’s not a time to slack off!
If you truly want your 2012 to be different. Then you need to think differently, act differently and create new habits. Simple.
If you don’t, then 2012 will end the same as 2011 did.
Can you really afford to be in the exact same position this time next year?
Think about it.
YOU have the power to create change.
No one else.
One thing you can do to create some change is to make some better decisions and start creating more cash flow.
