7 Fundamental Mistakes in Building a Network Marketing Business

The Network Marketing Business is more about people than it is about your products!
Mistake #1) Believing that your products or services are needed by everyone and anyone. It’s great to be passionate about your products, but you cant sell a steak to a vegetarian so stop trying to convince everyone that they need your products. The only way to have success in this industry is to be a consultant and offer people what they want. Give them solutions.
Mistake # 2) Overestimating how quickly you will get financial results. I did this and nearly everyone I know has done this too. Come into the industry and get excited, shout and tell everyone how you are going to be rich within 12 months. LOL. Success is a journey and if it was that easy… why the heck isn’t everyone doing it? I am serious! Why aren’t they? Because it’s not true. It takes blood, sweat, tears and perseverance. Your results will ONLY be determined by the level of discomfort you are willing to endure to get there. That’s it. There is no ‘get there fast’ solution. Some will be faster than others, but everyone has their story.
Mistake #3) The 3 gets 3 gets 3 gets 3 tale. Sure, on a whiteboard or napkin this may look impressive and simple. Anyone who has been in Network Marketing for any length of time knows that for every 3 you sponsor 3 or more will quit, so it’s more like 50 gets 100 gets 200 or more kind of story. Depending of course on your structure and compensation plan. But just so you know and you don’t get excited.. its not quite that simple
Mistake #4) ” I have done everything that I am supposed to, followed the training to a T and still haven’t signed up anyone – this doesn’t work”. A very common reaction from people who have not yet understood that it’s not just about taking some action. Becoming successful in anything worthwhile is 90% about who you are and your mindset. It’s not just about reading some motivational books and attending some trainings, it’s all about developing yourself no matter how long that takes. When you think about Olympic athletes, they didn’t become champions by just being average. Commitment, determination, focus, sacrifice and a champion mindset is what separates them from the rest that try.
I am going to deliver more on this point because it’s probably the most misunderstood. The only way you will ever be in the right mind and open to improvement is when you 100% agree with this statement. If you take someone like Richard Branson and took away his fortune, do you think he could start over again in whatever field he wanted and have success? Absolutely he could, because its not about luck or having money or any of the things that ‘unsuccessful’ people think it is. I bet Richard Branson could in fact get started in any MLM company and reach the top. It’s about who you are and who you think you are that ultimately determines your results. ” I will become what I know I am”
Mistake #5) Forcing your business opportunity and message on to everyone in your skype list, on Facebook, on any social media platform and failing to understand the normal social behaviour that is observed in every day life. You wouldn’t walk into a party and go around to everyone in the room who you had never met and asked them to join your business … or would you? Geez. I hope not. The same applies to your circle of friends online. Treat them with the same respect.
Mistake #6) Chasing the shiny ball. This is extremely common especially amongst those who are building their network marketing business online. They tend to stick to one method for a few weeks, then a new shiny ball comes along and they ditch whatever they were doing looking for a faster, better way. Whatever strategies you choose, it requires focus and mastering. You need to work on one skill until you master it. No distractions. If you don’t do this, you will have little results in almost everything. The same goes for hopping for one opportunity to another, only this costs you way more money because you keep investing in programs and businesses looking for the magic bullet.
Remember, its not necessarily about your opportunity or program, its 90% about YOU.
Mistake #7) Not showing up in every way. By this I mean. Are you showing up in every way? Are you attending your team trainings, are you soaking everything up like a sponge? If your company provides training and opportunities for you to learn from the best then it’s up to you to show up. Be hungry! No one in any company or business I have ever known is going to actually build the business for you. They can give you as much support as you require but at some point, you need to understand it comes down to you.
Show up and be the person who you want to become.
These are just 7 of the fundamental mistakes that a lot of people make in building a Network Marketing business. I could keep on writing.. but that’s enough to absorb for today.
If you want to be that person who creates their own reality, then you must stop believing its not possible and only listne and learn from those getting the results you want. Everything else is noise.
Go get em’
